This is a space to share some of my collegeate and ongoing personal projects.
This first work is my most recent project.
I am a huge Disneyland fanatic. However, on a recent trip to the park, I felt an uneasiness like never before. I had acquired a new, analytical eye for Disneyland as a staged production, and I was torn between the factual, yet wondrous feelings that go into creating and experiencing a place like Disneyland. This work was a way of dealing with some of the loss of innocent wonder for this place that holds so many of my childhood memories. This transition, while incredibly difficult, allowed me to also learn what I have acquired in this transition from childhood to adulthood. Something we all face at some point in our lives.
It is important to note that in the midst of this project, a pandemic struck the world. I decided to pivot my project into something residing within the home, but still on the ideas surrounding loss and transition. The second set of images after the Disneyland photos represent this challenge.

Environmental Portraits
These portraits are meant to bind two elements to become a singular composition The subject is photographed in a space, and the space is occupied by a subject. When juxtaposed, these elements manifest into a series of environmental portraits that tell a more compelling story than if they were standalone objects.

Replication Portrait
This is a replication of one of Rineke Dijkstra's images from her series "Beaches" where strangers are asked to pose in front of a camera on various different waterfronts. These portraits gain significance from their ability to speak volumes on the insecurities about body image faced by many in their adolescence.
